The Branding
We have Landor, a fantastic branding company, to thank for the BexSimon Artist Blacksmith makeover. As part of the primetime TV program that we were recently involved in, the presenter, Jo Malone, put us in touch with Landor who are the brains behind the rebranding of Heinz Beaked Bean, Carlsberg, Sensations Crisps, Terry’s Chocolate Orange and many more.
They came to visit me in the workshop to get a feel of the working environment and even have a go at forging! We talked about the BexSimon Artist Blacksmith business so that they could truly understand what it is that I am about and gain an insight into my vision. When we next met at their offices, the branding team had most of the wall space filled with ideas and back stories, which I found very overwhelming and exciting.
The BexSimon Logo – One of the things the branding team picked up on was my ‘Pink Anvil’ - I remember how when I went to buy an anvil and I first saw it amongst the other grey ones – it seemed so ironic that I had to get it! Landor cleverly designed the pink colour infill to be off centre to represent the jarring from the strike of the hammer – tink tink… tunk
The BexSimon Colours – Besides the pink, I’m a girl and my anvil is pink thing, the colours we chose for the packaging and website were to represent the filth and grime of the workshop, whilst maintaining a luxurious and premium feel.
The BexSimon Slogon ‘FORGED with LOVE’ – When Landor listened to me explaining how every piece I make is my favourite until I have to build the next piece, they started to understand my enthusiasm, love and passion for my work and it was from this that the phrase “FORGED with LOVE” was conceived.
It was amazing to be with a company where everyone has the same amount of enthusiasm as yourself! It was very encouraging to know that you are in very safe and capable hands. So thank you Landor!
