Public Art
Bex also enjoys working on larger projects for public spaces as well as the smaller private commissions such as bespoke garden accessories and hand made gates.
Her first public art was a gate commissioned for the One World Garden celebrating 100 years of the scouts which had Royal visitors at the opening during the jamboree in Chelmsford.
She was later commissioned to design and build a piece of sculpture ‘Coral’ for the entrance of the Kidlington shopping centre in Oxfordshire.
Bex’s largest work was commissioned by the Milton Keynes NHS Trust to design and build a perimeter railing and gate for the Cambell Mental Health Centre in Milton Keynes. The work tells the story of moving from the darkness of depression to the light of recovery. The gate at the end of the journey represent how ‘The Possibilities Are Endless’. This project was particularly close to Bex who has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.
Other public art pieces include gates and sculptures. All of these projects are designed with the commissioners ‘friends’ whether it is working with the in-patients or asking school children to sketch out their ideas.
